The Chief Medical Director at the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital has stated that the six Heartland players badly affected following the team’s car crash on Wednesday are unfit to play any match for now.
This is coming at the end of the x-ray report of five players in addition to the physical examination done on the sixth player, Ebele Obi, whose condition is the worst of all the affected players.
The five players, all first-team players are Chinedu Efugh, Macmarcel Obioha, Kingsley Ajaero, Owusu Antonin and Chidiebere Ajoku.
In a related development, the severally rescheduled Matchday 35 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clash between hosts El-kanemi Warriors and Heartland will now be played on Saturday according to league officials having initially been postponed from last Sunday till Thursday.
The match could not be played due to the car crash suffered by Heartland players and officials in Maiduguri, which culminated in a lot of injured and unfit players.
The league game was first rescheduled after a flight booking mix-up and the league body has now given the management of Heartland 48 hours to replace the injured players ahead of the clash on Saturday.
