Microsoft has finally introduced its ‘next-generation’ Skype app to Android devices, as promised at the time of its introduction earlier this month. Users can get their hands on the revamped app by downloading it from Google Play Store. Bearing version number 8.0, the app will also come to iOS later. The Windows and Mac versions of the app the platform will arrive “over the next few months,” reads the company’s official blog post.
With the update, Microsoft seems to have worked hard in putting Skype in competition with the likes of Google Duo, WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat.
The new app, as Microsoft claims, has been built from the ground up. The VoIP messenger now makes it easy for users to chat with groups in a more lively and expressive manner.
