The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man named Stephen Acheme Akpa in connection with an alleged N500,000,000 land fraud.

The Commission first detained Akpa, the CEO of Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Limited, on December 2, 2022, at his office in Abuja’s Idu axis.

This follows a petition alleging that he obtained N500,000,000 through deception.

The EFCC said in a statement that the suspect was to be arraigned on a five-count charge when he jumped the Commission’s administrative bail.

All efforts to catch him were ineffective until August 9, 2023, when he was re-arrested, according to the EFCC.

He is anticipated to appear in court after the inquiry is completed.

Meanwhile, some of his victims have expressed relief upon his capture.

They are urging the EFCC to pursue cases diligently in order to act as a deterrence to potential criminals.
