Troops apprehend 137 criminals and kill 23 terrorists.

According to the Defence Headquarters, throughout various operations conducted nationwide, forces apprehended 137 offenders and killed no fewer than 23 terrorists.Among the culprits who have been apprehended are five kidnappers, twenty-two oil thieves, and one informant.The activities were carried out between August 14 and August 25, according to a statement released on Friday by Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media activities.
He added that the efforts resulted in the rescue of 41 kidnapped persons.It said, in part, “Troops are still getting results from their counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations. Despite the fact that the military’s men and women battle and sacrifice their lives for their nation every day, they have accomplished a lot.
“The military will keep up the tempo of its operations by putting more and more pressure on organizations that aim to jeopardize national security and citizen safety.As of August 25, 2023, the military has neutralized 23 terrorists, detained 109 criminals, five kidnappers, one informant, 22 alleged oil thefts, and freed 41 kidnapped hostages. This is according to an update on activities across the six geopolitical zones.
In addition, 231 terrorists and their families—25 adult males, 63 adult females, and 143 children—turned themselves in to the authorities.Buba stated that the soldiers found 300 different types of ammo and 41 firearms.
14 AK47 rifles, 1 AK49 rifle, 2 AK47 rifles loaded with special 7.62mm ammunition, 1 PKT gun, 1 LMG, 2 pump action guns, 2 locally made pistols, 3 locally made rifles, 2 dane guns, 1 pistol, and 2 locally made long barrel guns make up the arms and ammunition breakdown.
Along with the troops, two magazines containing thirty rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK47 rifle loaded with thirty rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 239 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of 7.62 NATO, 44 rounds of PKT, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and six cartridges were also found. 13 motorcycles, 22 cell phones, a bicycle, 10 machetes, and a pair of camouflage were also found by the troops, the statement continued.He continued by saying that forces in the South-South had found about 682,400 liters of stolen crude oil.
