The Lagos government will detain vehicles without licence plates.

THE Lagos State Government urged law enforcement agencies yesterday to seize motorists with defective vehicle registration number plates and those who do not have any number on their vehicles.
Mr Abdulhafiz Toriola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, stated in an interview with journalists that unauthorised usage of number plates had become widespread.
According to Toriola, who referenced Section 16 of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018, a vehicle without a licence plate might be used to conduct crimes that are never recorded.
“The purpose of using a number plate is for proper identification and security because it is personalised for each vehicle,” he explained.
“Law enforcement agencies have been tasked with apprehending defaulters.” “I urge vehicle owners to cooperate with the State Government in order to strengthen the security architecture that has already been put in place.”
