Unilorin warns the public against scammers utilising VC’s name.

According to the institution, the VC does not use any of these social media channels.
The University of Ilorin (Unilorin) has warned the public that scammers are utilising social media accounts made in the name of Prof. Wahab Egbewole, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, to dupe people out of their money.
Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs Department of Unilorin, issued the warning in a statement on Thursday.
He claimed that this is the latest antics of scammers, who construct phoney social media accounts in the vice chancellor’s name.
“The sole purpose of this is to dupe them into parting with their hard-earned money.”
“These rogues use bogus social media platforms such as WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Messenger to make various demands on members of the public, ostensibly in the name of the Vice Chancellor.”
“To avoid any doubt, Prof. Egbewole does not use any of those social media platforms.”
“Members of the public should, therefore, be wary of these unscrupulous elements’ antics and be adequately guided not to fall for their pranks,” he said.
