In the search for missing poet Gboyega Odubanjo, who failed to appear at a festival in Northamptonshire, police discovered a body.

Mr Odubanjo, 27, was supposed to perform a reading at the Shambala event in Kelmarsh on August 27 but never showed up.

He was last seen at the event about 4 a.m. on Saturday, August 26.

Officers had asked for information about Gboyega Odubanjo, who lived in Woolwich, south east London.

“A body has sadly been found during the search for a 27-year-old man reported missing in Kelmarsh,” a Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman stated on Thursday, August 31.

“Police officers discovered the body shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, during a specialised search of the area.”

“The man was reported missing on Sunday, August 27, after he was last seen at the Shambala festival early the previous morning.”

“While formal identification has not yet occurred, the man’s family has been notified and is being assisted by specially trained officers.”

“It is not believed that there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.”

Gboyega Odubanjo’s family earlier stated that they had “profound concern” for their son’s safety and well-being, and that his disappearance is “completely out of character.”
