The DSS summoned the suspended LG head for questioning in connection with his claim of council revenue diversion against Governor Abiodun.

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Ogun State has detained Wale Adebayo, the suspended Chairman of the state’s Ijebu East Local Government Area, who accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of diversion of council resources.

In the last two years, the unhappy LG leader has accused the governor of diverting cash meant for local council management.

Following his claim, Adebayo was summoned to the DSS office in Abeokuta to provide additional information.

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, he arrived in the DSS office to honour the invitation and was permitted to go. Adebayo, on the other hand, was kept in detention after making another visit on Friday.

According to an assistant to the LG chief who verified his detention on Friday night, he would most certainly spend the weekend in DSS custody.

“When we arrived, I took his phone and stood outside; he hasn’t been allowed to leave since.”

“After he entered the building, the governor entered the DSS office and left after more than 30 minutes.” Only God knows what is going on with my boss right now; please assist us. “It’s 8:34 p.m. and he still hasn’t been allowed out,” the aide told Daily Trust.

Remember that on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, 18 of Ogun State’s 20 local government chairmen went to Abiodun to beg forgiveness for Adedayo’s alleged comments and letter.

However, on claims of maladministration and financial mismanagement, a quorum of councillors in the Ijebu East Local Government Area dismissed Adedayo for three months.
