DSS probes Garki Market mob attack

The Department of State Services has initiated an investigation into what appears to be a mob attack that occurred earlier today at the Garki Market in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Service stated in a statement by its spokesman Dr. Peter Afunanya that an investigation was required to ascertain whether its agents or the market mob were responsible for the incident.
In a statement released to the Vanguard on Wednesday night, Afunanya said, “The attention of the Department of State Services has been drawn to an incident that transpired a few hours ago (today, 7/9/2023) between its personnel and a mob at the Garki Market in Abuja.
“According to information available to the Service, its FCT Command responded to an SOS from field operatives who were allegedly attacked by a throng in the aforementioned market.
“As a result, the Service has initiated an investigation into the incident.”The public is assured that information regarding the investigations will be shared as soon as feasible.
Afunanya stated, “The Service assures that it will not hesitate to implement appropriate disciplinary measures against its employees if they are found to have violated Standard Operating Procedures when interacting with the public.”
