Fire outbreak: FG initiates relocation of airlines to new international terminal

The Federal Government, via the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has rerouted passenger processing through Terminal 2 of the New Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
The immediate relocation was necessitated by the regrettable fire that broke out at International Terminal 1 on Wednesday.
Recall that during his visit to Lagos airport, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, instructed the FAAN to relocate airlines to terminal two in preparation for the closure of the MMIA Terminal 1 on October 1, 2023.
According to him, the directive was intended to improve the passenger experience and completely revamp the terminal.
In a statement, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullah Yakubu-Funtua, said: “We intend to make this transition as seamless as possible, but we ask that all passengers arrive at the airport early enough to complete their check-in procedures on time.
“It is essential that they do not miss their flight.
“FAAN remains committed to her core values of safety, security, and comfort.”
