Gboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has warned members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun state to avoid former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s caucus.

Aregbesola recently dismissed the Omoluabi Progressives caucus, claiming that the political party is the result of a caucus merger.

However, Oyetola warned party members who welcomed him at the Tinubu-Shettima campaign headquarters in Osogbo to ignore the group in the party’s collective interest.

The Minister, who spoke in Yoruba, said he was not opposed to reconciliation, but those engaging in anti-party activities needed to be sober, and that the expulsion and suspension of erring members by the party’s State Working Committee was a step in the right direction.

“I’m telling you right now that you should not attend any caucus meetings; the only valid meetings you should attend are APC meetings in your various wards; there is no caucus or faction in the state APC.” Don’t let those caucus handlers fool you; they’ll trade you away.

“I am not opposed to the punishment meted out to our party members who engaged in anti-party activities during the recent election cycles.” We fought for three years to achieve reconciliation, but they jeopardised our efforts; therefore, I wholeheartedly endorse the party’s action.

“However, genuine reconciliation does not bother me.” If they demonstrate regret and are sober, we must convene a roundtable discussion,” he continued.

The former governor urged party members to attend party meetings and events on time, claiming that the party will return to power by 2026.
