According to the state chairperson of the NNPP Women Group, they are praying against some desperate politicians who are determined to get Abba Kabir Yusuf removed from office.

Governor Abba Yusuf’s win at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal was the subject of special prayers offered on Thursday by the Kano State government and populace.

Commercial operations were suspended in the city, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), while locals prayed at certain locations throughout the metropolis, including Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Madobi Road/Sharada, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, and Hadejia Road.

The NNPP candidate’s election as governor of the state was contested by the opposition APC at the tribunal.

Ideologues of Kwankwasiyya, however, voiced concern that they would not receive justice as the tribunal prepared to rule on the governorship election issue, leading them to resolve to pray for divine intervention.

The prayers were held outside the main gateways to the historic city of Kano, drawing both male and female supporters of NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement.

Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu, a NNPP chieftain in the Minjibir Local Government Area, led the two raka’at prayer session at the Hadejia Road location. He made an appeal to the locals to keep praying to God to protect the governor’s mandate and ensure appropriate security in the state.

Yakubu, who characterised the state’s citizens as peaceful and desirous of divine intervention, emphasised the necessity for group political activities to thwart “desperate politicians who want to steal our mandate through the back door.”

He explained that since he and other progressive, law-abiding politicians, they should pray to God about their situation.

They were praying against some desperate politicians who were “hellbent on removing Abba Kabir Yusuf as Governor of Kano state,” according to the state chairperson of the NNPP Women Group, Hajiya Zuwaira Abubakar.

“We are aware that some individuals who don’t believe in losing elections are attempting to steal the NNPP government’s hard-earned victory in Kano state.

We are pleading with Allah to protect the individuals responsible for such actions, he stated.

She clarified that they wouldn’t just sit back and let some irate people remove what God had given them and which was obtained through popular mandate.

Malam Baba Umar, the governor’s special adviser on private schools, also gave a speech in which he asserted that “by the grace of God, nobody will take it away from us” and that the victory of the governor had become inevitable.

Malam Mohammad Isa, a chieftain of the NNPP in the Karaye Local Government Area, led the two raka’at prayer session at Gwarzo Road and prayed for a peaceful conclusion of the election by the tribunal.

As we await the decision of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, he declared, “We have taken our matter to God.”

Malam Musa Abdullahi accused some desperate politicians in the state of plotting to upset the polity at the Maiduguri Road location, which prompted the need for divine intervention to ensure the governor’s triumph before the tribunal.

He claimed that, regardless of political allegiance, the NNPP-led administration has improved the well-being of the people during the past 100 days by implementing a number of people-focused projects and activities.
