Tinubu sacks FIRS boss, Muhammad Nami, Appoints Zacch Adedeji as new Chairman

Mr. Muhammad Nami, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, has been fired by President Bola Tinubu.
The President also authorised the appointment of Hon. Zacch Adedeji, his Special Adviser on Revenue, as the new Acting Executive Chairman of the FIRS.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made the announcement in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the statement, President Tinubu authorised the former FIRS Chairman, Mr. Nami, to take a three-month pre-retirement leave with immediate effect, as provided by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, leading to his eventual departure from service on December 8, 2023.
“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is hereby appointed in acting capacity for a period of 90 days prior to his subsequent confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for a term of four (4) years in the first instance,” the statement stated.
“Hon. Zacch Adedeji is a first-class accounting graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University.” He most recently served as the President’s Special Adviser on Revenue, after previously serving as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary / CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
“The new appointment takes effect immediately under the President’s directives.”
