The NSCDC parades seven suspects for alleged electricity theft and N13 million fraud.

Six accused energy thieves have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun Command.
This was said by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Kehinde Adeleke, in Osogbo.
Mr Sunday Agboola, state commander of the NSCDC, was quoted by Adeleke as adding that the suspects were apprehended during a joint operation of the command and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
According to Agboola, the suspects were apprehended on Thursday in Osogbo’s Ota-Efun neighbourhood.
According to Agboola, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime.
The commandant urged members of the public to join the command’s intensified efforts to protect vital national assets in their community by reporting vandalism to the corps.
He also stated that the command apprehended another suspect, Sodiq Ayanleye, 40, for alleged N13 million fraud.
According to him, the suspect took the money from his victim under the guise of wanting to purchase five pieces of property for him in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The state commandant of the NSCDC, on the other hand, stated that receiving money under false pretences violated sections 419 of the criminal code of conduct and section one of the advanced fee fraud and other connected offences 2006.
He assured the public that the suspects will be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction as a deterrent to future criminals.
