9 new Appeal Court Justices will be sworn in by CJN Ariwoola on Wednesday.

The Main Court auditorium of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja will host the swearing-in ceremony for the new Appeal Court Justices.

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), will administer the oath of office to nine newly selected Justices of the Court of Appeal.

Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s director of press and information, revealed this in a statement over the weekend.

Hannatu Azumi Laja-Balogun of Kaduna State, who was appointed a High Court Judge on May 24, 1999; Binta Fatima Zubairu of Kaduna State, who was appointed a High Court Judge on October 31, 2001; and Peter Chudi Obiora of Anambra State, who was installed as a High Court Judge on January 17, 2005, are among the newly appointed Justices.

Justices Asma’u Musa Mainoma from the Federal Capital Territory was appointed High Court Judge on 1st February 2013, Justices Lateef Adebayo Ganiyu from Oyo State was appointed High Court Judge on 26th June 2014, and Justices Okon Efreti Abang from Akwa Ibom State was sworn in as a High Court Judge on 12th February 2015.

The remaining two are Paul Ahmed Bassi from Borno State, who was appointed to the High Court on July 14, 2017, and Hadiza Rabiu Shagari from Sokoto State, who was promoted to the High Court Bench on February 12, 2015.

In a ceremony to be held at the Main Court auditorium of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja by 11 a.m., Akande stated that the CJN will administer the oath of office to the new appellate court Justices.
