In the general elections of 2019, Fasua ran for president but fell short of Buhari.

President Bola Tinubu has named Tope Fasua, the CEO of Global Analytics Consulting, to the position of Special Assistant on Economic Matters in the Vice President’s office.

via the evening of Friday, September 15, 2023, the chartered accountant formally announced his appointment via his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Therefore, I’ve been given the title of Special Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs in the Vice President’s office. Perfect for my desired national impact. We give thanks to the Almighty God and those who insisted and remembered me. For God and nation,” Fasua penned.

Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fasua earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Ondo State University in 1991, graduating as the top student.

He then went to the London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom and earned a second degree in financial markets and derivatives there. Beginning in 1992, he worked for the now-defunct Citizens Bank before moving on to Standard Trust Bank and Equatorial Trust Bank, where he eventually attained the post of Principal Manager/Regional Director in Abuja.

With a PhD in public administration and executive education coursework from Harvard University and the London Business School, Fasua has established himself as a regular contributor to economics and financial markets issues on television.

He organised a group of Nigerians to create the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in 2016, and Muhammadu Buhari won the 2019 presidential election while flying the ANRP’s flag.
