Residents and motorists in Lagos are concerned about the Jibowu Flyover.

SOME worried Lagos State citizens and motorists have raised the alarm about the failed segment of the Jibowu Flyover, urging relevant authorities to act quickly to prevent possible loss of life and property in the state.

The failing section of the flyover in a popular social media video, which could be seen as disconnected and giving way by the side as people drew the attention of appropriate authorities to preserve lives.

The flyover is affected between Jibowu by Total Fuel Station/Fadeyi Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, inward Ojuelegba, along Ikorodu Road, and the state’s Surulere Local Government Area. The specific location may be spotted on the way to Ikorodu Road.

“Please let us help our state to avoid any bad incidents from occurring,” a resident named Florence Philips said. Please help us elevate this to relevant authorities at the federal and state levels, particularly the Minister of Works, Umahi, and the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to do the necessary now before it’s too late.”

Ikotun Canal culvert failure

Similarly, residents and motorists in Alimosho’s Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area, LCDA, have requested the state government to repair the rapidly deteriorating culvert near the Ikotun market on the Ikotun-Egbe Road.

Mr Hassan Kabiru, a concerned resident and motorist in the region, stated, “The government should focus on the Ikotun Market canal culvert because it is a vital link from Ikotun to other parts of the Mainland and Island.”

“It is a section of the Canal road at Ikotun Market, inward from the Ikotun roundabout to the Synagogue Church.” It’s been like way for years, and calamity is just around the corner if nothing is done to correct it.

“It’s also one of the causes of the ongoing traffic because one of the lanes has been closed.”
