According to Tinubu, he is best equipped to address issues and remove all bottlenecks in the oil and gas sector.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the oil and gas sector’s bottlenecks and asserted his ability to make difficult choices.
The President made this statement on September 18, 2023, when hosting a delegation of ExxonMobil executives in New York.
According to Tinubu, he has demonstrated his ability to make difficult judgements throughout his career in the private sector, where he worked as an accountant in the oil and gas industry.
He claimed that in his capacity as President, he is best equipped to address issues and remove any bottlenecks in the oil and gas sector.
On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Tinubu pledged to remove the obstacles to Nigerians’ ability to build wealth and find employment in a statement released through his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.
“The complex problems demand my immediate supervision. I will sit down and supervise the process of removing these obstacles to the creation of jobs and riches for the Nigerian people in spite of my numerous competing duties. We understand the business. We developed there. We are in a position to address the issues, and since we are pragmatic, we will do so, the President declared.
Liam Mallon, the president of ExxonMobil’s global upstream operations, said during their meeting that he was aware of Tinubu’s personal dedication to Nigeria.
In addition to pledging more output of roughly 40,000 bpd in its Nigerian businesses, he committed to back the president’s initiatives with new investment.
You promised that your team will work with us, and it has shown out to be true. Since our last meeting, we have made considerable progress. We are increasing our output and making significant progress in our deepwater production. We value your efforts and will return the favour. The moment has come. I appreciate your leadership,” remarked Mallon.
