Manchester United are set to send the star out on loan as he has struggled to make it into the first-team for the past several seasons.
It is no secret that Manchester United have had their troubles at the back this season. As a result, it is not going to be surprising if Solskjaer ends up experimenting with this backline in order to find the perfect combination. But even then there are some players who are not likely to get much of a sniff. Marcos Rojo is one such player.
The Argentine joined the Red Devils from Sporting CP in 2014 after an impressive World Cup campaign. And for his first three seasons at the club, he was a regular feature. Since then though, his career has gone downhill and these days he barely gets any meaningful minutes on the pitch.
Last season, he was sent away on loan to Estudiantes. And the same might happen once again in January as The Sun is reporting that Sheffield United might be interested in his services.
Rojo’s contract is up at the end of the season and it is unlikely that Manchester United will be able to get a transfer fee out of him unless they end up signing him to a contract extension, which would be extremely unlikely. The player himself will be looking for a long-term home though after he leaves Old Trafford and a loan move to Sheffield United might be the perfect opportunity.
Chris Wilder’s side were very impressive after getting promoted to the Premier League last season, finishing in 9th place. The wheels have fallen off this time around though as they have lost five of their opening six games and currently sit at 19th.
Someone like Rojo could actually do a job for them. He has the pedigree to do so and while he might not be good enough for a club with title aspirations, he can do a job for Sheffield United. Thus, it might be the perfect move for the defender.
